Because of its proximity to the border, this wild and beautiful region remained off limits to trekking parties until 1992 and is still considered off-the-beaten trail. Trade with Tibet in this region is still strong, as the people of the Budhi Gandaki retain the Tibetan culture of their ancestors.
Mountain Travel Nepal’s founder, Lt. Col. J. O. M. Roberts, was a member of Tilman’s exploratory trek in 1950 when he crossed the Larkya La. Hence, our company has a long standing association with the region that no other trekking agency can match.
Trekking through the Manaslu Conservation Area gives an opportunity to observe a vast range of bio-diversities.
Please note that special permits are necessary for this trek. Only organised parties with a liaison/environmental officer are granted permission. At Mountain Travel Nepal we take care of all the red tape, leaving you to enjoy this committing and inspiring Grade 4 (strenuous) trek.
